GRANDMA'S CROCK-POT SAUSAGE AND PEPPERS | |
4 lb. Italian sausage (links, bulk or roll) 3 or 4 onions, chopped 3 large green bell peppers, sliced 3 tbsp. minced garlic Italian seasoning (McCormick) 1 (10 oz.) can Rotel diced tomatoes with chilies 1 large red or orange bell pepper, sliced 1 (2.5 oz.) pkg. original country gravy mix (McCormick) 1 (8 oz.) pkg. grated Parmesan or shredded Mozzarella cheese 8 to 10 hard rolls or bread Cut sausage into small chunks. Chop onions and slice green peppers. Put sausage, onions, green peppers and garlic in Crock-Pot. Add Italian seasonings, to taste. Cook on LOW for 4 hours. Add diced tomatoes and sliced red/orange pepper. Cook at least 2 more hours. 20 minutes before serving stir in gravy mix directly to juices. Do not follow directions on package! Top with your choice cheese. After cheese melts it is ready to serve. You can serve as sandwiches on hard rolls or on plate with buttered bread to dunk in juices. Serves about 8 people.
