1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sour cream
2 c. peeled chopped apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp. melted butter

Cream together shortening and 1 cup sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Combine flour, soda and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Stir in chopped apples. Spoon batter into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan. Sprinkle nuts evenly over batter. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and melted butter and pour over top.

Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
