CHERRY KUCHEN 
DOUGH:

1/2 c. shortening or soft butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk
1 1/4 c. flour

Cream shortening, sugar, salt, and egg yolk. Cut in flour to make fine crumbs. Press into bottom and sides of 10 inch pie plate.

FILLING:

1 lb. 4 oz. can frozen or canned cherries, thawed and drained
3/4 c. plus 2 tbsp. sugar
3 eggs
1/4 tsp. butter, melted
1/4 tsp. almond extract
Cinnamon

Arrange cherries on dough. Lightly combine sugar, eggs, butter, and almond extract with a fork. Pour over fruit. Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon.

Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool on rack. Serve plain, with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Serves 8.
