PIZZA DOUGH (QUICK AND EASY)
2 pkg. rapid rise yeast
2/3 cup warm water
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
4 cups flour
1 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. olive oil
2/3 cup warm water

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a small bowl, mix first 3 ingredients. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.

In a large bowl, combine salt, flour (no need to use the full quantity - use enough flour to make a stiff dough), sugar oil, and the second 2/3 cup of warm water.

Mix together yeast and flour mixture and knead on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic.

Place dough into an oiled bowl and turn once to coat with oil. Cover and let rise until doubled in size (about 45 minutes to 1 hour).

Sprinkle a pan with cornmeal or semolina flour. Press dough out with your fingertips (or roll out) into a circle (or use a square cookie sheet for Sicilian style pizza).

Brush with olive oil and spread with your favorite toppings (pizza sauce, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers and onions are a few suggestions).

Bake at 350°F-400°F for 15-20 minutes or until edges are golden and lightly browned in spots and cheese is melted and bubbly.

Makes 1 large pizza.

Amazing! I have been looking for this recipe for years after I lost the one I clipped out of a newspaper.

I cheated the dough and it still turned out fabulous! I used regular yeast, mixed all the ingredients together at once, and let the dough rise in a warm oven in a metal bowl while I prepped all my toppings. By the time I had everything else chopped and diced to my liking I took the dough out of the bowl, set my oven to preheat, and assembled my pizza.

I added some italian herbs, roasted garlic, and fresh cracked pepper to mine.

In a total of 1 hour I had fresh, delicious, piping hot pizza.

I can't call this a quick recipe if it takes 1 hour for the dough to rise. For me a quick dough is one that rises within 10-15 minutes. The dough is the part that takes the longest.

Suggest using Rapid Rise yeast. Takes about 20 minutes. No way to get yeast to co-operate any faster that I know of.

OH MY! So easy and rose beautifully. Hard to make good dough in our very humid climate but this was super terrific. Thanks for sharing... ;D

I used this recipe for the base for a cold veggie pizza (Baked dough by itself then put on toppings)

A few things I did differently....
- Definitely used all 4 cups of flour. And I used a finer bread flour.
- I used regular dry yeast
- Substituted the white sugar for brown sugar and I put 2tbs when I mixed in the dry ingredients.
- Baked in a rectangular pan on parchment paper @ 350°F for approx 10-15 minutes and then I flipped it so it didn't get crispy.

Overall great recipe! Will use it again!

This pizza dough turned out to be fabulous. I did not, however, use rapid rise yeast, just regular. I mixed it up in the mixer and kneaded it for a couple minutes by hand, then let it rise in the oven in a metal bowl, covered with a wet tea towel. I kept the oven on the warm setting for about 30 min, and then let it rise 15 minutes more with the oven off. It rose so beautifully! The final result was a thick crust, but very light and airy, deliciously chewy and a great base for multiple toppings.

This recipe does make a lot of dough, however. I completely filled an extra large pizza pan, and the crust was thicker than my family normally prefers, so it would definitely work well to make 2 pizzas!

I have used many pizza dough recipes; I thought they were all the same. I was wrong. This is the BEST Pizza Dough Recipe that I have found. You can also roll out small rounds and brush with olive oil. Then press basil, onion slices, green/red peppers into the dough (without any sauce.) Then sprinke or Parm. cheese, garlic, salt and pepper. Freeze them and toss on them on the grill until done. Awesome...

Took me more than 4 cups of flour to get the dough to somewhat elastic, but rose like a charm. I also added a little dried garlic and pepper flakes into the dry mix for an excellent flavor. Don't know if I would make this dough again, but it was good once.
