POPPY SEED CAKE 
1/3 c. poppy seed
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Soak poppy seed in buttermilk 1 hour. Mix butter and sugar until smooth. Add milk mixture. Add egg yolks and vanilla. Stir dry ingredients into wet. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into mixture. Grease cake pan. Pour in 1/2 mixture. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Pour on remaining mixture and again sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
