1 c. Crisco shorting
1/2 c. butter
2 3/4 sugar
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. cake flour
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. 7up soda

Blend Crisco, butter and sugar add eggs one at a time beating well after each egg add soda and flour gradually. Bake at 325 degrees oven for 1/2 hour.

Frosting:
1/2 stick butter
4 oz. cream cheese
1 lb. box powdered sugar
2 tsp. lemon flavor
walnuts or pecans (optional)

Blend cream and butter, sift sugar. Add flavor beating until smooth. Frost cake while it's warm. Add walnuts or pecans if desired.
