PHOEBE'S CRACKER NUT TORTE 
1 c. coarse chopped nuts
3/4 c. fine rolled Saltines
1 tsp. baking powder
3 egg whites
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar

Mix first 3 ingredients well. Beat egg whites until foamy not stiff. Add salt, vanilla, and slowly add sugar until dissolved. Fold in nut mixture. Bake in 9 inch greased pie plate. Top with frozen whipped topping refrigerate overnight.
