PERFECT SCALLOPED OYSTERS | |
1 pt. oysters 2 c. coarsely ground saltines 1/2 c. melted butter 3/4 c. light cream 1/4 c. oyster liquid 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp. salt Drain oysters, reserving 1/4 cup liquid. Combine crumbs and butter. Spread 1/3 of the crumbs in a buttered 8 inch round pan. Cover with half the oysters. Sprinkle with pepper. Make a second layer of crumbs, then oysters and finish with crumbs on top. Pour remaining ingredients over the oysters. Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Serves 4. Menu Note: Orange-cranberry sauce with this is a nice tart flavor. Make rolls or muffins and have a green vegetable, such as broccoli. To finish an easy oven meal, serve gingerbread with whipped cream on top or lemon flavored cornstarch pudding sauce. |
