WHITE CLOUD CAKE | |
1 lb. confectioner's sugar 1/4 c. cold water 1/2 c. white shortening 3 c. cake flour, sifted once 3 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. salt 1 c. cold water 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 4 egg whites, beaten stiff Cream together sugar, 1/4 cup water and shortening. Sift together 3 or 4 times flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed ingredients alternately with 1 cup water and extracts, fold in egg whites beaten stiff with cream tartar. Makes three 8 inch layers. Bake 25 minutes in 375 degree oven. |
