APPLE CRISP 
2 or more c. sliced apples
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar (or less)
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar

Wash and pare apples and slice. Place in greased baking dish or pan. Mix cinnamon and sugar together. Heat water to boiling and pour over above mixture. Stir. Mix other ingredients: Shortening, flour, salt and sugar until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples, after liquid ingredients are poured over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
