ORANGE FESTIVE COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 (6 oz.) can frozen orange juice, thawed (divide into 2 parts - 4 oz. & 2 oz.)
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shredded coconut
3/4 c. chopped pecans

FROSTING (if desired) :
2 c. confectioners sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
2 oz. orange juice

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, vanilla, and 4 ounces orange juice; beat well. Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in the sifted dry ingredients to sugar mixture; blend well.

Fold in coconut and pecans. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven 9-10 minutes or until golden brown. If frosting is desired, whip together the three frosting ingredients.
