STREUSEL COFFEE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 egg

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. finely chopped nuts
2 tbsp. melted butter

Blend all ingredients, except topping, beat vigorously 1/2 minute. Spread half of batter in a greased 8"x8"x2" or 9"x9"x2" pan. Mix together topping ingredients in a separate bowl. Sprinkle half of this mixture over batter. Top with remaining batter then remaining topping. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 or 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
