HONEY WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
2 pkgs. yeast 1/2 c. warm water 1/3 c. corn oil 3/4 c. honey 1 egg 1 tsp. salt 1 c. whole wheat flour Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Mix in large bowl: corn oil, honey, egg, salt and whole wheat flour. After mixing well, add two cups hot water. Stir until honey is dissolved. Add yeast water mixture. Add flour, a cup at a time and stir until too stiff to add any more flour. I use three additional cups of whole wheat flour and finish with all-purpose white flour. Turn dough onto well floured surface and knead about 10 minutes adding flour as needed. When dough is smooth and no longer sticky, put into well greased bowl. Turn once to grease all sides. Cover with cloth and let rise to double in size. Punch down and allow to rise again 1 1/2 hours. Divide in half; put in greased bread pans. Let rise in pans for 1 hour. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. |
