HONEY AND WHOLE WHEAT BREAD | |
3 1/2 c. pre-sifted white flour 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour 3/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. sugar 2 packets of Rapid Rise Fleischmann's yeast 1/4 c. honey 2 1/4 c. water (110 to 120 degrees) Pam or vegetable oil spray Mix the flour, baking soda, sugar, salt and 2 packets of yeast in a large mixing bowl. Add honey and water. Mix until flour sticks to sides of bowl, then put onto floured pastry sheet and knead for 8 minutes. Spray a layer of vegetable oil over kneaded dough and sides of mixing bowl, then place dough in bowl, cover with warm moist cloth and put in warm place for 45 minutes. Then remove dough from bowl onto pastry sheet and cut into loaf size. Knead lightly, put into greased and floured (or cornmeal) pans and let rise 20 minutes. Then into oven and bake 30 to 35 minutes at 400 degrees or until done. Makes 2 large loaves or 5 (6" x 3 1/2") loaves. |
