CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
3/4 c. white sugar
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 tbsp. hot water
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 pkg. chopped walnuts

Cream first 6 ingredients. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Mix. Add chips and nuts. May add 1 to 3 tablespoons water only if necessary to make batter moist. Spoon cookies onto cookie sheets with a teaspoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove when top of cookies look not quite done. Cool a few minutes. Put in covered containers while still warm to keep moist and soft.
