DATE NUT PIE 
2 c. sugar
6 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
3 tbsp. flour
1 stick butter
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 c. dates, chopped fine
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and 4 whole eggs plus yolk of 2 eggs. Save whites of 2 eggs for meringue. Add flour and stir in buttermilk. Bring to boil and add dates. Cook stirring constantly until thick. Continue beating if dates have not dissolved. Add butter, nuts and vanilla.

Spoon into bake pie shell. Cover with meringue. Brown in 350 degree oven. This makes a large deep dish pie.
