6 c. Cocoa puffs 1/4 c. butter 40 large marshmallows 1 (12 oz.) pkg. milk chocolate chips Place cereal in large bowl; set aside. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the butter and marshmallows. Microwave, uncovered on high for 3 minutes; stir. Continue cooking until smooth, stirring after each minute until melted. Add chocolate chips and stir until melted. For stove top directions - melt butter in 3 qt. sauce pan, add marshmallows. Lower heat stirring constantly until marshmallows are melted. Add chocolate chips and stir until melted. Pour mixture over cereal; stir until well-coated. Spread evenly in a greased 13 X 9 X 2 inch pan. Cool before cutting. Yield: 2 dozen. | |

I tried this recipe because my picky kids wouldn't eat the bargain cocoa puff cereal I bought. It ended up tasting good, but there wasn't enough butter in the marshmallows to make a smooth mixture, it ended up too thick. I added a little more butter, then "buttered" my hands and mixed the cereal/marshmallow combo with my hands. Turned out great!
