MUSHROOM BARLEY SOUP 
1 full c. barley, rinsed
3/4 c. canned lima beans
3 carrots, sliced
2 stalks chopped celery
1/2 lb. (or more) fresh mushrooms (can use dried, instead)
1 med. lg. onion, quartered (remove after 1 hour of cooking)
3-4 qts. water
2 tsp. salt, pepper to taste
A few pieces flanken (beef short ribs) or chicken for flavor
2 tbsp. Croyden Chicken Soup Mix powder or bouillon

Add ingredients after water has boiled. Cover and cook slowly on medium heat. Skim top of soup occasionally. Add 2 tablespoons Croyden powder for taste. Cook at least 2 hours.
