CRYSTAL POUND CAKE 
1 cup shortening (Crisco)
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk

Thoroughly cream shortening; gradually add and continue to cream sugar with shortening. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Add alternately with buttermilk.

Pour into two greased and floured 9x5x3-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350°F for approximately one hour.
