1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch or flour
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. sweet milk
3 egg yolks, beaten
1 tbsp. butter
Dash of salt
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 baked pastry shell
2 egg whites, beaten stiff

In a double boiler, cook first 5 ingredients, stirring constantly until thickened. Add butter, salt, and vanilla. Stir well; pour into baked pastry shell.

Top with meringue and heat under broiler until golden brown. Do not walk away - watch carefully.
