DATE LOAF CAKE 
1 c. dates, chopped fine
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
3/4 stick butter
3 eggs
2 1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans, chopped fine
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. nutmeg

Sprinkle soda over chopped dates. Pour boiling water over dates and soda then set aside. Cream sugar, butter, and eggs. Add this to dates with flour, vanilla, spices and pecans. Bake in deep pan lined with 3 thickness of wax paper at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 hours or until done. Eat when 3 or more days old. If you double the recipe bake 2 hours or until done.
