DATE LOAF CANDY 
1 lb. dates
1 lb. nuts
2 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1 heaping tsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Cook milk, sugar and butter until forms firm ball in cold water. Take from fire. Add dates and nuts. Stir until too heavy to move spoon. Turn out on cloth - sprinkled with 1/2 powdered sugar and 1/2 cornstarch. Roll and knead until firm. Shape into rolls and chill.
