CHOCOLATE CHERRIES | |
1 jar (8 oz.) maraschino cherries 3/4 c. cherry or orange-flavored liqueur 6 sq. (1 oz. each) semisweet chocolate Place cherries and liqueur in a medium bowl. Cover and let stand overnight. Drain well, reserving the liqueur for another use, if you like. Place cherries on paper towels and let stand 1 hour to dry. Melt chocolate in a small, heavy saucepan, stirring frequently, over very low heat. Remove from heat. Holding cherries by the stem end, dip each into the chocolate to cover. Place on a waxed-paper-covered baking sheet. Let stand in a cool, dry place, or chill until chocolate is firm. You can chocolate-dip cherries without first steeping them in the liqueur. Just make sure they are completely dry before dipping. Yield: About 28 cherries. |
