BROWN SPICE CAKE 
2 c. raisins
4 c. water
1 c. Crisco
3 1/2 c. flour
2 c. white sugar
1 tsp. clove
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs, beaten well

Bring raisins and water to a boil and simmer 10 minutes; add Crisco and cool.

Sift flour, sugar, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, salt, soda, and cinnamon in mixing bowl. When raisin mixture is cool, add it to sifted ingredients and beat about 1 1/2 minutes. Add eggs. Pour in greased, floured pan. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

FROSTING:

2 tbsp. milk
1 c. brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 c. salt
1 c. coconut
Nuts

Mix; spread. Broil 1 1/2 minutes.
