1 1/2 cup starter juice in 1 gallon glass jar add 2 1/2 cups sugar and 1 large can peaches with juice. Stir daily for 10 days with wooden spoon. Keep tightly sealed when not stirring. On 10th day, add 2 1/2 cup sugar and 1 large can pineapple chunks with juice and 1 large can fruit cocktail with juice. Stir daily for 10 more days, on 20th day: add 2 (9 ounce) jars maraschino cherries, drained and chopped. Stir 10 m ore days. On the 30th day: drain fruit (which makes 3 or more cakes) and save juice, which should make 3 starters. Starters may be stored in freezer and passed to friend. Cake Recipe: 1 c. chopped pecans 1 reg. size box yellow cake mix 2/3 c. vegetable oil 4 eggs, slightly beaten 1 box butter pecan instant pudding mix In a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Mix well with spoon, put into greased bundt pan, bake at 350 degrees 40 to 60 minutes. Cool completely. ICING: 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 stick butter 2 c. powdered sugar 1 tsp. vanilla Mix well and ice cake. Makes a nice cake at Christmas, give cake and starter as a small present to a friend. |
