POUND CAKE 
1 lb. butter
8 eggs
2 2/3 c. sugar
3 1/2 c. flour, sifted
8 tbsp. evaporated milk or coffee cream
1 tsp. vanilla

Separate eggs and hold out 3/4 cup sugar to heat egg whites. Cream butter and 2 cups sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time and beat well after each addition. Alternately add flour and milk. Beat egg whites with sugar until stiff. Fold into batter and beat vigorously, add vanilla. Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees in tube pan lined with wax paper.
