BUTTERSCOTCH TREATS | |
1 c. butter 1 c. brown sugar 1 egg yolk 1 tsp. vanilla 2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. salt Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Cream well. Add egg yolk and vanilla; blend. Add flour and salt; blend to moisten flour. Spread in buttered 10 by 15 by 1 inch pan; bake 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Cool. Spread with Butterscotch Frosting. BUTTERSCOTCH FROSTING: 1/4 c. butter 1/4 c. cream 1/2 c. light brown sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. nuts, chopped 1 1/4 c. sifted powdered sugar Place butter, cream and brown sugar in saucepan. Bring to a boil and boil one minute. Remove from heat. Add powdered sugar gradually. Beat constantly until mixture loses its gloss, and is of spreading consistency. Blend in vanilla. Frost butterscotch treats quickly. Sprinkle with nuts. |
