DATE - NUT DROPS 
2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. water
1 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Place first 2 ingredients in a saucepan and cook, stirring occasionally until mixture is thick like jam. Cool.

Cream butter; add sugars, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Mix dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture and mix thoroughly. Stir in date mixture and nuts. Drop rounded teaspoonsful 2 inches apart on cookie sheet and bake 12-15 minutes in 375 degree oven. Makes about 12 dozen.
