AUNT HATTIE'S BOILED RAISIN CAKE 
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 3/4 c. water
2 c. raisins
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. ground cloves
4 heaping tsp. cocoa
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs

ICING:

4 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1 stick butter
1/4 c. evaporated milk or half and half
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box confectioners sugar

Mix flour and salt; set aside. Put water and raisins in a pot and simmer 15 minutes. Let cool. Then add baking soda, cinnamon, vanilla, cloves, and cocoa to pot. In a large bowl, mix sugar and butter until creamy. Add beaten eggs. Add raisin mixture and stir thoroughly with a wooden spoon. Gradually add flour and salt stirring with wooden spoon. Grease and flour tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let cake cool a few minutes before removing from pan. Then cool cake on rack.

ICING: Melt chocolate and butter. Add milk and vanilla. Mix gradually adding sugar.
