CREAM WAFERS 
CREAM WAFERS:

1 c. soft butter
1/3 c. whipping cream
2 c. flour

Mix thoroughly, chill 1 hour. Roll out 1/8" thick. Cut into 1 1/2" rounds. Transfer to waxed paper heavily sprinkle with sugar, turning to coat both sides. Prick with fork, bake until puffy, but not brown. Put 2 cookies together with Creamy Butter Frosting.

CREAMY BUTTER FROSTING:

1/4 c. soft butter
3/4 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 egg yolk
1 tsp. vanilla

Or use:

CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

1/4 c. shortening, melted & at room temperature
1/3 c. milk
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. confectioners' sugar

Combine melted shortening, cocoa and salt. Then add the milk and vanilla. Stir in sugar in 3 parts, mixing until smooth and creamy. Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin frosting, if required.
