OATMEAL FUDGE BARS 
CRUST LAYER:

1 c. shortening or butter
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
4 c. quick cooking oatmeal
2 tsp. vanilla

FUDGE LAYER:

2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sweetened condensed milk

Mix crust layer in given order. Remove 1 cup mixture for topping. Press remaining mixture into a greased 9x13 inch pan.

FUDGE LAYER: Combine in a saucepan and heat until melted, spread over oatmeal mixture. Sprinkle with reserved oatmeal mixture. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.
