VIOLET'S POUND CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. orange extract

In large bowl combine sugar, butter and eggs. Cream well; add soda to buttermilk and stir well. Add flour with baking powder and alternate with buttermilk mixtures. Pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 75 minutes. Prick holes in cake after it is done and pour batter sauce over it.

BUTTER SAUCE:

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. butter
2 tbsp. water
2 tsp. vanilla flavor

Combine all ingredients and bring to a rapid boil. Remove from heat and pour over cake, while still in pan. Let stand for 10 minutes; turn out on cake platter.
