CHOCOLATE CHIP DATE CAKE 
1 c. chopped dates
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
6 oz. chocolate chips

Combine first 3 ingredients and set aside. Then mix together the rest of the ingredients, except the chocolate chips. Mix ingredients by hand; do not use a mixer. Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 inch greased pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Bake at 325 degrees for about 45 minutes.
