MY MOTHER'S APPLE DUMPLINGS IN
CARAMEL SAUCE
 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
2/3 c. butter
2/3 c. milk
6 apples
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 tbsp. flour
Pinch of salt
1 c. hot water
Butter

Combine first 4 ingredients. Cut in butter. Add milk. Roll out dough. Cut in squares. Pare and cut apples in half. Fill centers with brown sugar. Use 1 apple for each dumpling. Wrap with dough. Place in baking dish with open side up.

Mix together sugars, flour and salt. Add hot water and cook 5 minutes. Pour around dumplings, when about 1/2 bake dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-50 minutes.
