2 c. sugar 1 c. buttermilk 2 1/2 c. pecan halves 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tbsp. butter In large saucepan (heavy) combine butter, sugar, soda, buttermilk and salt. Cook over high heat 5 minutes, stirring often, scraping the bottom of the pan and sides. Add pecans and continue cooking, stirring constantly until candy reaches soft ball stage. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Beat until thick and creamy. Drop from spoon onto waxed paper. |
