TEXAS COFFEE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
2 eggs
1 lg. can evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. drained cut cherries

Cream sugar and butter together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in milk and vanilla. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Combine flour mixture; fold in pecans and cherries. Pour into lightly greased tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until done. Cool on rack.
