PICNIC CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/3 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/4 c. cake flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
12 marshmallows
1/2 c. nutmeats, chopped
1/2 c. brown sugar

Thoroughly cream shortening, vanilla and sugar. Add eggs; beat thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Pour into greased 8 x 12 x 2 inch pan. Cut marshmallows crosswise; arrange on batter. Sprinkle batter with brown sugar and nutmeats. Bake at 350 degree for 40-45 minutes.
