DARK FRUIT CAKE 
1/4 c. butter
1 pkg. seedless raisins
1 1/2 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. nut meats (optional)
1 c. mixed fruits
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. of each baking powder & baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. of each salt, cloves & allspice

Cook raisins with water and sugar, let boil 5 minutes. Add butter and set aside to cool. Mix all dry ingredients together in bowl and add eggs and mixed fruits. Stir well. Add raisin mix and stir well. This will make 2 loaf pan cakes, or 1 large round cake. Bake in slow oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until done.
