3 c. coffee, boiled
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. dates, chopped
3 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. chopped nuts

Boil together first 4 items for 10 minutes, cool. Sift together other dry ingredients; add to liquid. Fold in walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees in well greased tube pan for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Decorate top with maraschino cherries before baking.
