DARK FRUIT CAKE 
5 eggs, separated
1/2 c. molasses
1/4 c. grape juice
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. mace
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 3/4 c. pecans
1 3/4 c. raisins
1/2 lb. cut up candied pineapple
1/2 lb. whole candied cherries
1 1/4 c. cut up dates
1/4 lb. cut up orange peel
1/4 lb. cut up lemon peel

Beat egg yolks in small bowl until stiff. Combine with molasses and grape juice. Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add egg yolk mixture and blend. Mix 1 cup flour (without seasoning), with the fruits and nuts. Warm this in oven for 5 minutes. Sift the remaining flour with spices and baking soda. Beat egg whites until peaks form. Fold into creamed mixture. Stir in fruits, nuts and rest of flour.

Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours or until toothpick comes out clean and dry. Be sure to grease pan and put 3 greased layers of heavy brown paper on bottom of tube pan before putting mixture in.
