DEVIL'S FOOD COOKIES | |
2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate 1 c. packed brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. baking soda 8 oz. sour cream 1/2 c. softened butter 1 egg 2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional) Melt chocolate. Cool. Cream butter, gradually add brown sugar, add egg, vanilla and chocolate. Combine dry ingredients, add alternately with sour cream. Add nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets 2 inches apart. Bake in 350 oven 8 to 10 minutes. FROSTING: 1/4 c. softened butter 2 tsp. instant coffee 3 tbsp. milk 2 tbsp. cocoa 3 c. confectionery sugar 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla Dash salt Frost cookies when cool. Makes 4 1/2 dozen. |
