SOFT MOLASSES COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. molasses
2 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

In large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add molasses and eggs and stir until well blended. Add levenings and spices and blend. Lastly add flour gradually. Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls.

Dip tops in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool and store in tightly covered container to maintain softness. Yield: about 3 dozen.
