SOFT MOLASSES DROP COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 c. hot water
5 c. flour

Cream shortening with sugar and molasses. Add unbeaten egg. Sift flour with cinnamon and add alternately with hot water to which soda has been added. Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 12 minutes.
