GRANDMA'S BEST APPLE CRISP 
4 c. sliced, pared baking apples (4 medium)
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. regular oats
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
3/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/3 c. butter, softened

Arrange apples in greased 8 x 8 x 2 pan. Mix remaining ingredients with fork. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake at 375°F until apples are tender and topping is golden brown, about 30 minutes. Serve with cream, ice cream or hard sauce, if desired.

Yields 6 servings.
