VANILLA EXTRACT 
Fresh vanilla beans
Vodka (low grade is best)
Brandy
Sterilized glass bottles, do not use plastic

Place 1 vanilla bean in each bottle, 2 if using larger bottles, such as dressing or small vinegar bottles. Using a funnel, fill bottle 3/4 full with vodka. Fill remainder of bottle with brandy. Let stand at room temperature 1 month before using.

Empty Worcestershire bottles or beer bottles are great. Clear bottles are best. To seal, save corks from wine bottles. When shopping for low-grade vodka, careful, as some are diluted vodkas and labels are somewhat deceivingly marked as such.
