HUSH PUPPIES 
2 c. self-rising cornmeal
1 c. self-rising flour
2 eggs
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
1 c. onions
Buttermilk
Cooking oil

Add enough buttermilk to all other ingredients until well mixed. About 15 minutes before cooking, spread small amount of hot cooking oil over mixture and allow to rise. Then spoon out into hot oil in pan. Cook until brown. Place on paper towel to drain. Makes 1 to 2 dozen hush puppies.
