PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES 
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
Cherries (optional)
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 tsp. baking soda
Nuts (optional)

Thoroughly cream butter, peanut butter, sugars, nuts, eggs, and vanilla. Sift together in a separate container the dry ingredients. Blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Criss-cross with a fork and, if desired, put a piece of nut or cherry on top. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until brown. Cool slightly and remove from pan. Makes 4 dozen.
