Lipton's Onion Roasted Potatoes

My family of picky eaters LOVE these! They're really tasty and easy to make. I didn't bother with the chopped parsley because my kids would have taken one look at the parsley and wouldn't have tried these potatoes. They're great without the parsley. Many thanks for another recipe my picky gang will eat!!

We love these potatoes but after I noticed that Lipton soup has partially hydrogenated soybean oil and corn syrup, I want an alternative. I wonder if any other cooks have suggestions. I have tried just using minced onions, but it isn't enough.

Carol, you might try a generic onion soup mix. My store brand (Spartan) does not have the msg that Lipton has and no partially hydrogenated soybean oil. It does, however, have corn syrup solids. You could use the minced onion with a good seasoning mix, but the thing that gives these potatoes the good flavor is the actual soup part of the mix. You could try a dry beef bouillon, but I would bet most of them have some of the ingredients you don't like. Just by the way, I love these potatoes. I have also brought them to outdoor picnics (with grills) double wrapped in a foil packet. Keep them away from the most direct heat and flip the packet every so often.

Just use the Lipton ma'am

Just roast your potatoes with nothing and the smother it with ketchup so the kids will enjoy the normal bland food mom makes.

We use 8 tsp. minced onion, 4 tsp. beef bouillon granules, 1 tsp. onion powder, 1/4 tsp. seasoned pepper.

This is one of our favorites. I've also made it with kielbasa. Just cut up one package of kielbasa into bite-sized chunks, then add during the last 20 minutes of baking.

We love these also. I have made several variations using Italian dressing, Greek dressing and other wet and dry seasoning combinations. Just don't use too much "wet" stuff. You can chop and saute your own onion in some Worcestershire and A1 too.

I added fresh green beans, cut to about 1/2-inch in length. I cook them until they are still a little crunchy. Toss them with the potatoes and it is a wonderful dish for family, or potluck. I make a "double" batch, 5 lbs. of red potatoes, and a 2 lb. bag of fresh green beans. Frozen beans just don't work in the recipe. Enjoy!
