RAISIN FILLED COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. milk
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla

FILLING:

1 c. raisins
1 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt

Cook filling until thickened. Combine cookie ingredients and roll on floured board. (Roll cookie dough thin.) Cut around cookie; place filling on it. Dampen edges and cover with another round cookie. Bake 10-15 minutes in 325 degree oven.
