RAISIN FILLED COOKIES 
4 c. brown sugar
2 c. shortening
6 eggs, beaten
2 tsp. pure vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
8 c. flour

FILLING:

2 1/2 c. raisins
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. water
6 tbsp. flour

Combine filling ingredients. Cook until clear. Allow to cool.

Cream shortening and sugar. Mix in beaten eggs and vanilla. Sift soda and flour together, and stir into shortening mixture. Roll 1/8 inch thick on a floured surface. Cut out and put on ungreased cookie sheets. Put 1/2 tablespoon cooled filling on top of each cookie. Cover with another cookie and seal round the edges. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 4 dozen.
